It was stated to the meeting that
one Thomas Williamson was carrying on the
Trade within the Burgh without having entered
with the Trade. – The Meeting therefore instructed
the ~Trade~ Clerk to write him requiring an
Explanation of the right under which he
carries on Trade.

At a meeting of the Trade held this day
within their Hall.
The late Deacon Mr Feathers thanked the meeting
for the able support he had got from the Trade
during the last year, he then vacated the Chair in
favor of Mr Young the Deacon Elect, who accepted
of the office, and promised to do every thing in his
power for behoof of the Trade trusting to their
support – a vote of thanks was then unanimously
voted to the late Deacon for his attention to the
interest of the Trade while in office. –
In reference to Thomas Williamson mentioned
in last meeting, it was stated that he had
been written to by the Clerk, and had produced
his fathers Discharge ~to the Clerks~ as a Soldier from
the 73d Regiment of foot, to the Clerks, who
was instructed to demand legal evidence of Williamson
being a lawful son of the Soldier mentioned in that
Discharge.
