Dundee 29 Augt 1827
The Trade this day met for the purpose of Collecting
Quarter accounts – after which the Deacon
laid before the Trade the statements of
the expences ~for the~ repairs of the East Church,
~When the~ The Measurement of the Seats belonging
to the Trade in the said Church being 69 feet
lineal Measurement at the rate of £1-11 sh per
foot, the Trade ordered the Boxmaster to pay
the requisite sum to the Kirk Treasurer Mr W
Thoms – Viz – £69 – 19, the Trade having paid by
~installments~ £ 37 – ” – , making a total sum

Dundee 19 September 1827. At a meeting of
the Trade for the purpose of proposing a Candidate
from the Trade to be Convener of the nine Trades for
the ensuing year; after taking the usual oaths against
Bribery & Corruption &c resolved to propose George
Fairweather Tailor in Dundee as a Candidate, and
instructed the Deacon to propose him at the General
meeting. The Trade having met in the general hall
Deacon Gardener of the Hammermen was Elected
Convener of the nine trades for the Ensuing year by
a majority of eight trades to one.
