Dundee 13th October 1824
At a meeting of the Trade held in their Hall this day for
the purpose of electing Harbour Commissioners for the ensuing year
Messrs William Fairweather Mercht Cowgate and James Small
Manuf Smalls wynd were proposed on the part of the Trade, and
agreed to, and the Deacon was instructed to vote at the
General meeting of the Trades accordingly.
The Deacon on his return to the Hall intimated
that Messrs James Chalmers, Andrew Drummond and James
Pullar Junr had been elected on the part of the Trades
as Harbour Commissioners for the ensuing year.

At a meeting of Tailor Trade held this evening the Deacon
Made a Statement of the result of a meeting held last
Night by the Conveener & Deacons which was called relative
to the Drop of Reduction of the Sett of the Burgh
Last Granted by the Convention of Royal Burghs
which was that a meeting of the Trades should be called
indivualy to know their Sence on the business and what
should be done in the Present Case, The Trade concieved
the case of vital importance to the Corporations
in particular and the Town in General and Could not
Consider themselves Justified to engage in the Law so
too rashly but would take a few days to see what
the Great Corporation that is the Guildry would do in
the case as they as a Body was most particularly concernd
in it and the Deacon is requested to give the Trade the
earlys notice of any thing which should be deamed of
importance to the Trade
