Dundee 26th September 1822
At a meeting of the Trade held in their Hall
this day the Deacon was instructed to vote for the
following Gentlemen to fill the office of Magistrates
for the ensuing year. Patrick Anderson Esqr Provost.
Pat. Whitson, George Thoms, John Calman & James
Smith High Street Bailies. David Pitcairn Bookseller
Treasurer. –
The meeting next proceeded to the Election
of their Deacon for the ensuing year. when Thomas
Malcom was duly elected to the office
for David Watt

Dundee 7th October 1822
At a meeting of the Trade held within their
Hall this day, the above Mr Thomas Malcom the
Deacon elect having accepted of his office and
taken the Chair, the thanks of the meeting were
unanimously voted to the late Deacon Watt for
his attention and exertions for the good of the Trade
while he filled the office; to which he made a
suitable reply – and the New Deacon promised
to do his best endeavours to fulfil the duties
of his office, and hoped to be able to do so
to the satisfaction of the Trade.
