Dundee 9th Octobr 1822
At a meeting of the Trade called within their
Hall for the purpose of electing Harbour Commissioners
for the ensuing year. Messrs John Sime and Wm
Matthewson were proposed on the part of the Trade,
agreed to, and the Deacon was instructed to vote
at the General Meeting of the Trades accordingly.
The late Deacon Mr David Watt intimated
to the meeting that he would require payment
of the money due him by the Trade either just
now or at Martinmas next as should be most
convenient for the Trade, And the question being
put to Mr Watt whether he would allow his
money to remain till Martinmas at five per
Cent, or would take it just now. – And Mr
Watt having agreed to ^let the money remain^ ~do so~, the meeting agreed
to let the money remain unpaid till Martinmas.
The Deacon afterwards reported to the meeting that
the nine Trades had made choice of the following Gentlemen
to act on their part as Harbour Commrs for the Ensuing year
vizt Messrs John Sime, James Pullar and Andrew Thomsons
