Tailor Trade minutes (1816-1829)

Dundee 20th September 1820
At a meeting of the Tailor Trade held this
day, Mr Thomas Low was proposed as a
Candidate for the office of Convener of the
nine Trades for the ensuing year, the
members present having previously qualified
for electing in due form; and a list of
the Candidates proposed by the nine
Trades having been handed in to the
meeting, they made choice of and elected
Mr John Sime of the Baker Trade to be
Convener of the nine Trades for the
ensuing year, and the Deacon was
ordered to vote at the general elections
accordingly.
The Deacon went to general meeting
and voted in terms of the above order, and
upon his return intimated that Mr John
Sime of the Baker Trade had been duly
elected and installed into the office of
Convener of the nine Trades for the ensuing
year. –

Dundee 27th Septemr 1820
At a meeting of the Trade held within
their Hall this day for the purpose of authorising
their present Deacon to vote in the Election of
Magistrates & other office Bearers in the Council
and for the purpose of Electing a Deacon to the
Taylor Trade for the ensuing year – Several
Candidates as usual being put upon the Leet,
after voting Mr David Watt was
declared to have been duly elected as Deacon
of the Incorporation for the ensuing year. But
during the proceedings John Beamless protested
against the Election for reasons to be afterwards
given in & thereupon took Instruments in the
Clerks hands.
