and Mr Malcom may be satisfied – The same to be
intimated to Mr Malcom tomorrow – The meeting
also felt indignant at the contemptious and improper
treatment they received from John Niven the
present Boxmaster who absolutely refused in the
most impertinent manner to bring forward the
Books belonging to the trade at the Deacon and
councils request expressed verberly and by letter
to enable them to transact the business they
met upon and authorise the Deacon to intimate
these feelings to the first meeting of the trade that
they may pass an appropriat censure on such
conduct and prevent the Deacon and council
from being insulted – or being under the dis-
agreeable necessity of taking legal steps to make

At a meeting of the committe of the Trade
the Deacon presented three estimates ~[?]~ one from
David Gunn. one from James Smith and one
from James Anderson. James Andersons
Estimate being the Lowest was of course approv-
ed of by the committe. and ~the~ letter ~on the~
~other side~ a copy of which is on the other side. was
sent him by ~the Deacon~ they also resolved that the
door leading out of the front seat shall ~not~ be shut up
as proposed in the Articles of Specification. but no
