Tailor Trade minutes (1816-1829)

Dundee 8th July 1816
At a meeting of the Taylor trade a
motion was made by George Scott that the trade should
raise the price of there mortcloth a small sum in order
to be of advantage to the funds of the trade and the motion
to ly on the table till Lamass and then a decision to pass
on it ^which was agreed to^ – The Charges against the magistrates drawn
up by a committee apointed by the Nine Trades were
read that each member might have the opertunity of
Judging of there propriety or impropriety – A Motion
was made and seconded “that no money should be advan-
-ced from the funds of the trade to support or pay for
a prosecution against the Magistrates on the above
Charges which was also agreed to – ~the motion of [?]~
~was then~ brought before the trade respecting the covering and
altering the seats of the trades ~[?]~ loft in the old church
when by a large majority it was resolved to alter and
cover them and the Deacon and Council were
authorised to take Estimates from Different ^tradesmen^ ~Wrights~
according to a plan given them and to proceed as
fast as possible – It was also agreed that a lock and
Key should be got for the door of the trades loft and
Wm Dundas shall be instructed to keep that door
locked till within five minuts of the Bell ceasing –
that the members may not be incomoded by the
seats being filled before there arrival – It was
also resolved that this minnut be inserted in
the Sederunt Book along with the minnut of of the
6th of May 1816. The Deacon and boxmaster were
