Dundee 9th July 1818
At A Meeting of the Trade this Evening Regularly
called, A Letter adressed to the Deacon from Robert
Brown Requesting to be Admitted to the Trade
and the Priveleges Ingoyed by the Other Members ~of the~
~Trade~ which he has been Deprived of since the
3d August 1812 – according to a minute of that
Date, the Meeting after consideration agreed to
Accept the said Robt Brown on condition that he
pay all Arrears of Quarter Accts and Apprentices
which proposal was agreed to by the Petitioner
The Deacon Reported that James Brown had
applyd to become A Member of the Trade and Lodged
20 shillings to call a meeting for that purpose
the Meeting also agreed to Accept him for the
Ordinary Dues and Ordered him Forwerd –
when he agreeable to the custom Performed his
Essey Piece and Paid the Ballance of his Entry
As a freemans son which sum in all including
the 20 shillings Lodged is Nine Pounds Ten shillings
^Likewise^ ~paid~ a fine of three shillings and sixpence over and above
The Meeting ajourned to Thomas Hoods to Open
the Locked Book & insert the Entry –
It was agreed to apply to the Convener Court Request=
=ing their Permission to Allow the Trade to Erect a Storm
Light in Place of the Skylight in the trades Room at
Present as the Roof of the Hall was to be new Slated
however at this time It was agreed at same
