no transaction of Mr Matthewson’s as Boxmaster of the
Tailor Trade shall be held as valid from this date.
Before coming to these determinations the Trade
sent a message to Mr Matthewson to see if he would
yet come forward and do his duty but he positively
refused to come and the Trade therefore resolved
accordingly
The Deacon laid before the meeting a letter he had
received from D Thomson Montrose requesting an abate-
ment of the interest of the debt due by him to the Trade.
The meeting directed the Deacon to inform him that no
abatement whatever can be made.
The meeting authorised the Deacon to take in
estimates of the expense of substantially repairing the
chimney tops of the Trades property and allow the
Council to decide on the offers.
The meeting directed that a meeting be called as
early as possible to sign this minute and a copy sent to
Mr Matthewson of what relates to him

a meeting of the Trade ~being called~ for the purpose of
giving force to the Two former Minutes but before
Proceeding to Business it was recommended to send a Dep-
utation to Mr Matthewson to advise him to continue
his Situation till the regular time of retiring from
office Messrs David Watt & James Cobb Volunteered
their good offices – and Waited upon Mr Matthewson
while the Meeting was to Wait a final answer
for the Rule of their Conducts the Deputation
over
