of George Watsons offer

We received your missive of the 7th
Instant of the following tenor:
“To the Deacon & Members belonging to the Tailor
“Trade of Dundee – Gentlemen – I as a Tenant
“wish to continue in the present situation belonging to
“you and which is presently occupied by me altho
“that I still have two years of my time not yet
“expired, I wish my Lease renewed to Seven or more
“years as can be agreed upon if not raised to such
“a rent as I cannot pay; but before I would attempt
“to move from your premises I give an offer of
“Forty five pounds Sterling yearly I am &”
This offer having been laid before a meeting
of the Trade held on the 7th Current, they accepted
and authorised me on their behalf to accept of
your offer for Seven years from Whitsunday 1825 at
the rent of £45 yearly payable by half yearly
instalments.
