Dundee 21st June 1819 –

At A Meeting of the Tailor Trade held in their
Hall this Day there was Present Deacon Matoon
David Watt, David Stephen Thomas Low –
James Brown James Feathers James Rob
John Beanston James Dick Junr John Ferrier
Robert Brown, Willm Anderson John Young
David Millis Willm Matthewson Thomas Petrie
Robert McCosh and Willm Young
The Deacon Laid Before the Trade a Letter from
the War Office Relative to the Local Militia
Freedom – A Copy of it as follows –

War Office No 7911

The Secretary at War acquaints – that
as Service in the Local Militia Except when Embodied,
does not authorise a Soldier to Set up a Trade without
having the Freedom of the City in which he resides:
It does not Seem to be necessary to Send
a Statement of his Services in the West Forfar Local
Militia – Dated War Office 16th June 1819

It was unanimously agreed by the Present meeting
to Charge – George Clark – for Infringing on the
Privileges of the Trade and Likewise for the Dues of
his Freedom to the Corporation the Committee
formerly appointed along with the Boxmaster –
