Dundee 17th Novr 1817 –
The Tailor Trade Being met to Consult on their
Ordinary affairs, Quarter Accounts was Collected
a Committee at same time was Elected for the
Purpose of Auditing the Accounts for the
Preceeding Year – Consisting of the following
Gentlemen Viz Messrs David Mills. Willm
Matthewson. Robert McCosh. & Thos Peter
The Afore Named Committee, to Meet in the Hall
On the Evening of Monday the 24th Current
and to Report Accordingly, At same Time the
Deacon & Boxmaster ~Reported~ that they had waited on
James Fenton, Tailor, in the Hilltown – agreeable
to the Order of the Trade. concerning his Entry
on the score of Infringing on the Priviliges of the
Corporation. When the said James Fenton had
Intimated to them that he had no Design nor
Inclination to Enter the Tailor Incorporation
The Meeting this Evening agreed to Refer the
same to ~the~ Next ~Trades~ Meeting for Consideration
It was agreed that Messrs Willm Matthewson &
John Beanston do Make Enquiry Concerning
James Brodie, which was an Apprentice Some
Time with Chs Urquhart, and Report to the
Trade the Exact Time he was with the said
Chs Urquhart
