Tailor Trade minutes (1816-1829)
163 / 196

The Boxmaster laid before the meeting a notice from the
Superintendant of Police intimating an Interlocutor of the Dean
of Guild of the 29th ulto ordering the Trades to lay pavement and
make drains and water course opposite to their property in the
Murraygate conform to a plan in the Superintendants hands and
as specified in the notice, which notice being read to the
meeting they left it with the Deacon & Boxmaster to employ
any person they may judge proper to furnish the materials
and perform the work, leaving it also with them to fix upon
what thickness of pavement & depth of curb stones should be used,
not being less than those mentioned in the notice.

An application by Mrs David Watson Montrose was
laid before the meeting craving aid, which being considered by
them they authorised the Boxmaster to pay her Ten Shillings
out of the Trades fund.

The Deacon proposed James Fyffe son of Wm
Fyffe ^Brewer &^ Carter in Dundee, to ^be^ entered with the Trade as a
free mans son in law, in right of his wife, daughter
of the late David Watt a free master Tailor in Dundee,
and made a motion accordingly which was carried
unanimously, the said James Fyffe paying the usual entry
money for a freemans son in law. And the entry money
having been afterwards paid the said James Fyffe
was duly entered, booked and admitted a free Master
in the said Trade, with all the usual privileges and
immunities thereto belonging.
