By the 56 Geo III Cap 67 S
3 the term of service entitling to privilege is declared
to be 5 years personal service in Militia or fencible
Regt. being honorably discharged – and by the same
Act Officers mariners Soldiers & marines who
have been employed in the Kings service since June
22. 1802 and have not since deserted and also the
wives and children of such are declared entitled to
privilege If therefore the 52 of the King is to
receive a liberal interpretation Local Militiamen
having served and not having deserted, being
married men must be held entitled to the priv
ilege altho Militiamens term of personal service
is required to have been 5 years”,
Should the above not be satisfactory
I can enquire a little more into the practice thro’ the
same channel and shall always feel a pleasure in
serving you in any way

These Two Letters having been read &
conducive by the Committee they were unanimously
of opinion that these letters gave such clear and
full information on the subject that it would be
unnecessary to incur further expence in getting
opinion of Counsel and the Committee recom
mend that a meeting of the respective Trades
of Shoemakers and Taylors should be held on
monday the 2 day of August ensuing to lay be
fore them
