Tailor Trade minutes (1816-1829)

Dundee 29th April 1825
Which evening the Tailor Trade met in their Hall
for the purpose of consulting upon their ordinary
affairs, Quarter accounts was collected. at same time
a Letter was read by the Deacon, addressed to him
by A Graham, James Dawson and another whose
name could ^not^ be made out, calling themselves Managers
of a Thistle House of Call, the purport of which is
stating that a House of Call for Journeymen Tailors
is now instituted and the Men is to be found there
if required a quarter before 9 oclock next Monday
Morning and the Masters is to be denied the use
of Weomen ^that is they must not be employed^ and that boys must serve out their
time if it should be to two or three Masters

At a Meeting of the Taylor trade
present the Deacon Boxmaster D Duncan
John Young it was Unamously agreed to
give to the following Widows ~to~ the following
Sums To Widows Reid Wilson Dick Duncan
Robertson Strachan McDonald A McDonald
Ogilvy Watson ~Lan~ Langlands Smith Lieghton
30 Shillings each & to Mrs David Watson
Montrose the Sum of ten Shillings there
Being no other Business before the Meeting
they adjourn
