The Committee after deliberate discussion agreed
that of the two persons viz George Clark Tailor
and Joseph Dempster Dempster Shoemaker that
the first was the most eligible to raise an action
against it being fully understood that both
Incorporations are responsible for their share
of the expences that may be necessarily incurred
and that in the event of a favourable Decision
in regard to Clark if any future expence be incur
ed by the Shoemaker Trade it being also
necessary to prosecute Dempster That we the
Tailor Trade shall be equally liable in a due
proportion of the same
It was also agreed that Mr
James Brown Writer here should be the man of
business employed in conducting the action or
prosecution against George Clark in name of
the Incorporation before the Town Court
A sub committee was also appointed to conduct
the business by their instructions viz Deacon Malcom
Messrs Wm Kirkland David Watt and James
Keith the latter to be Clerk and paid for his trouble
The sub committee hereon appointed
Messrs Deacon Malcom David Watt & Wm Kirkland
and James Keith their Clerk to wait on Mr James
Brown tomorrow at half past ten oClock forenoon
to give him instructions – It having been stated
to the sub Committee that the United Trades were
disposed to join in the expence of trying the lands
to the privileges of Local Militia men the Committee
here
