Minute of sederunt of a General Meeting of
the Incorporation of Tailors or Tailor Trade
of Dundee held within their Hall upon Monday the
first day of June Eighteen hundred & twenty nine. –

The Deacon stated to the Meeting it had been called for the purpose of
considering and determining upon what steps should be adopted regarding
certain encroachments made upon the privileges of the trade by James
Murison and James Gall both Merchants in Dundee who had lately
advertised taking orders for and getting Gentlemens Clothes made within
the Burgh of Dundee by persons in their employment, not freemen of the
Craft – and who had commenced and were carrying on business accordingly.
Which matter being considered by the Meeting they unanimously
resolved that a Summary Action should be raised before the Burgh Court
of Dundee at the instance of the Deacon and Boxmaster on behalf of themselves
and the whole other Members of the Craft against each of the said
James Murison & James Gall, concluding for an Interdict against
each of them from carrying on the said business and also for
damages and Expences, and the Meeting instructed the Deacon
and Boxmaster to employ the Agents for the Incorporation to
raise the said Actions accordingly and to carry on the same to
a conclusion. –
It was then moved by Mr. Mathewson, seconded by Mr
