Tailor Trade minutes (1816-1829)
164 / 196

Dundee 6th July 1826

At a meeting of the Trade held this evening in their
Hall, the Deacon stated that the meeting had been called
partly for the purpose of deciding on an application made
by Mr John Young one of the Members of Trade in behalf
of James Rodger his apprentice to be admitted a free
apprentice with the Trade, and the Indenture having
been read from which it appeared that the apprentice
had entered to his apprenticeship in 1822 altho’ the
Indenture is only dated in June last, which the meeting
having considered unanimously resolved not to admit
the apprentice, as the Indenture was not executed
within three years of his entry to his apprenticeship
in terms of the Sederunt of the Trade.

The plans of the proposed improvements on
the interior of the old Church were laid before the
meeting when the Trade approved of those drawn by
Mr Burns in preference to any others. –

A note was also laid before the meeting containing
a demand of Thirty seven pounds from the funds of
the Trade as an interim payment of the Repairs
on the old Church presently going on, which sum
the ^Deacon and^ Boxmaster were authorised to pay, if they should
find the proportion fairly stated, and at such time
as they may judge proper, but without any other
authority from the Trade.
